What games to play when the electricity is out and you have no internet?

The best three card games

So, there are some renovation going on next door and they have cut your electricity cable. There goes your lights, TV and of course the internet. It will last about half a day or maybe more and you are bored. In case you are a gamer (or you just already finished all your books at home – both of them!) you’d be bored like hell. Are there are any type of games that can save us?

Luckily, yes!

Is there anything you can play without electricity and net? Fortunately: yes! There are a bunch of games for these “offline” moments, RPGs, adventure, strategy and even action ones. You just need to buy them, put them on the self – and you are set for life, even without electricity and broadband.

Let’s see the top three of these card games!

1/ Arkham Horror

H.P.Lovecraft had a twisted and genius mind, probably that’s why he came up with names like “Cthulhu” or the even better and near-impossible-to-pronounce “nyarlathotep”. If you know nothing about Lovecraft it’s okay, all you need to know about him is: he single handedly gave birth to te horror genre.
Thanks for Fantasy Flight Games we have an awesome “lovecraftian” adventure/RPG game to play, only with cards (and a few tokens). Locations will be cards, our heroes (here they called “investigators”) will be cards, their skills will be cards, and the ugly horror enemies will be cards too.

Muliple scenearios with different endings, awesome stories and theme, near infinite replay value – what else do you want? Get the “core box” (that’s kinda the first episode of this never ending cardgame) to see if you like it.

arkham horror, fantasy flight, lovecraft, pathfinder, starwars, toplist, outer rim, diablo, card games, board games

Warning: due to the nature of it’s publishing method (LCG = Living Card Game) if you want to buy every expansion and scenario, then you are down into the financial rabbit hole. But the core box (called simply: “Arkham Horror: The Card Game“) is enough for a start. Happy monster hunting!

2/ Pathfinder: Adventure

So, do you like Diablo? And other loot-fest level grinding action RPG games? Good. Here is an “offline” version of Diablo for you: Pathfinder Adventure: The Card Game (by Paizo Publishing).

Everything you need for a nice loot grind fantasy monster hack-and-slash is here: weapons, armors, characters with levelling up and skills, big boss fights and some light story to keep you entertained.

Play like a charm, and you only need a big enough table to fit all cards and dice on it. Because you will roll a lot of dice here. Which is part of the fun!

3/ Star Wars: Outer Rim

If you ever wanted to play as Han Solo (or Boba Fett! Even – better!) and smuggling illegal cargo around the galaxy, fighting bounty hunters and having nice spaceship dogfights then look no more! This game have it all. Easy to learn and you can play and replay it ’till the end of times because you know… it’s a board game. Random cards, dice throwing, a lot of characters and chaos all around the board! Perfect for beginners, and perfect for those occasions when the light and the net goes out.

You can get the games on Amazon now for a reduced price.
